Ultimate Magnetic Recording “Challenge to super terabit recording” Various technology which aimed at the recording density of 1 terabit per square inch (1Tbit/in2) made a present target has been proposed to realize a hard disk drive (HDD) of large storage capacity. Last year, there were announcements the areal recording density of HDD achieved 612 Gbit/in2 and 803 Gbit/in2by present perpendicular recording system and by using a descrete track media.
