The185th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

Element Strategy in the Magnetics Society of Japan Japanese industry strongly depends on the rare metal elements. However, the large amounts of the rare metal elements are imported. In recent years, the consumptions of rare metal elements increase worldwide, and moreover, the producing countries of rare metal elements strengthen the export control system. Therefore, the supply of the rare metal elements may be short in Japan. Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has been investigated about the element strategy for Japan with the core members of academia and industries, and started a new project of the element strategy in this year. In cooperation with MEXT, the societies, […]

The184th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan / The 20th Special Meetings on the Application of High Magnetic Fields

Material separation technique using high magnetic fields “Magnetic separation” is a technique to separate materials using the difference of their magnetic properties. Although the magnetic separation is a simple process based on a quite familiar phenomenon to most of people, it is applicable as a way of separation from fine particles to ions regardless of whether they are magnetic or not by the application of superconducting magnets, magnetic filters, and pre-treatment such as the magnetic seeding. Target materials attracted on the magnetic filters can be collected easily by the removal of magnetic field. Therefore, the magnetic filter can be reused. Owing to these features, the applications of the magnetic separation […]

The 183th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan / The 39th Topical Symposium on Spin-electronics

Dynamics and Relaxation of Magnetization The magnetization reversal is the most important technology for the developments of the spintronics technology. In order to control the reversal, it is indispensable to understand the dynamics and relaxation of the magnetization. Such researches have overlap with the leading-edge spin-current phenomena, such as spin-torque magnetization reversal, spin-Hall effect, Hanle effect and so on. The dynamics and relaxation are the common issue in the spintronics studies. In this symposium, we are inviting speakers studying on the frontline of research on spin dynamics and relaxation. We hope to generate exciting and stimulating discussion among those interested in this field. Date: March 22, 2012 (Thu) 13:00-17:15 Venue: […]

The 182nd Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan

New fields in magnetics created by light Magneto-optical effect, an interaction between light and magnetic field in a medium, is currently being investigated by many researchers and a number of new phenomena are being discovered. In particular, by using magneto-optical effect, many researches such as spin-photonics, spin wave excited by light pulse, data storage, high sensitivity sensors, and fast-switching phenomenon have been developed energetically. In this symposium, exciting and stimulating discussion among those interested in this field are highly expected. Date: January 31st (Tuesday), 2012 13:00 – 17:00 Venue: Room 601, Kagaku-kaikan(Chemistry Hall) (1-5 Kanda-Surugadai, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo / 3-min. walk from Ochanomizu Station on the JR Chuo Line) TEL:03-3292-6161 In […]

The 181st Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan

Spin in Quantum Computing and Quantum Communication Recently, quantum spin systems are of interest for applications to ultrahigh-speed parallel computing and absolutely safe cryptographic communication. The precise control and the observation of the quantum state, i.e. the orientation and the phase of spin, are essential in the quantum information science. In this symposium, 6 researchers distinguished for this research field will provide recent interesting topics on the quantum phenomena appearing in confined semiconductors, superconductors and metals. We are very much looking forward to your participation. Date: December 7th (Wednesday), 2011 13:00-17:20 Venue: Room 320, Surugadai Memorial Hall, Chuo University (3-11-5, Kanda-Surugadai, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo / 3-min. walk from JR Ochanomizu Station), […]

The 180th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

Light and Magnetism in Meta-materials Macroscopic materials consisting of artificial components much smaller than the wavelength are called meta-materials. Meta-materials enable us to realize the intriguing wave behaviors, which we have never observed in nature; for example, a negative refractive index or an invisible cloak using electromagnetic meta-materials in the microwave region. In this symposium, we are inviting speakers studying on the frontline of research into optical and magnetic properties of meta-materials. We hope to generate exciting and stimulating discussion among those interested in this field, relating to the possibilities of meta-materials. Date: October 21st, 2011 (Friday) 10:30 – 16:30 Venue: Surugadai Memorial Hall, Room 670, Chuo University (3-11-5 Kanda-Surugadai, Chiyoda-ku, […]

The 179th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan / 8th Seminar on Magnetic Fluids

Magnetic Fluids: Progress in the past half-century and prospects for the next half-century Half-century has passed since development of magnetic fluids by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and Tohoku University, which are now widely being used in various industrial applications. However, there are still several unresolved theoretical and practical issues for this novel material. In this symposium, researchers specializing in various areas related to magnetic fluids will deliver lectures about the new developments and future perspectives in their respective fields. We would like to provide the opportunity to have discussion on fundamental mechanisms and new applications of magnetic fluids. We are very much looking forward to your participation. Date: […]

The 178th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

History and future prospects of magnetics Research and development in magnetics are making remarkable advance in aspects of fundamental physics and various applications. For example the phenomena theoretically proposed some decades ago are demonstrated with recent nano-technology. Past technology revives with a different shape or in unexpected fields. This symposium provides an opportunity to introduce future prospects in variety of magnetic research with historical view point. We are very much looking forward to your participation and getting hints for your works. Date: May 20, 2011 (FRI) 13:00-17:00 Venue: Surugadai Memorial Hall, Room 670, Chuo University (3-11-5 Kanda-Surugadai, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), tel: 03-3292-3111 In cooperation with: IEEE Magnetic Society Japan Chapter, The […]

The 177th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan / The 42nd Topical Symposium on Nano-magnetics

Advanced Technology for Future Information Storage The magnetic recording system such as HDD comes to do the kernel of the information storage technology, and is progressing to the field where the application is quite new on a digital information age. Moreover, the information storage is requested to take not only the magnetic recording technology but also other storage technologies, and to be discussed widely. In this symposium, we will focus on the advanced technology for future information storage. Though magnetic recording technologies are placed as a main stream, the symposium where new information storage technologies are able to be discussed actively is planned. It was postponed due to the earthquake […]
