The 246th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

New Developments in Magnetism-Related-Technologies Supporting the “Monodzukuri” In recent years, social attention have been focused on the efforts to realize a sustainable society. In this sense, the Japanese term “Monodzukuri” has been used in the industrial demand. This term includes not only producting goods but also adding value before and after the production processes. “Monodzukuri” encourages the productivity improvement, energy saving, and high durability, and contributes greatly to a sustainable society. In this meeting, the cutting-edge researchers present their works related to magnetism for hardware (materials and machines) and software (theory, analysis, and design) that support “Monodzukuri” and discuss future guidelines for “Monodzukuri”. We look forward to your entries. Date: […]

The 245th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan

Novel microfabrication for magnetic applications With the rapid development of digital society, expectations of high-density magnetic recording media are needed. However, it is difficult to fabricate higher-density magnetic recording media using current microfabrication methods. Consequently, novel approaches utilized the current methods, which have advanced in tandem with semiconductor processing, are under investigation and development for these new magnetic recording media. Additionally, pioneering strategies have been proposed within the realm of microfabrication, aiming to achieve even more intricate processing beyond the existing capabilities. This workshop invites lecturers to research the most advanced microfabrication techniques and methods for developing new magnetic recording media. Through this lecture, we hope to have discussions that […]

The 244th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan/ The 7th Technical Meeting on Magnetic Sensors

Anomalous Hall and Nernst effects in magnetic metals and their application to magnetic and heat flux sensors Although the sensitivity of magneto-resistive sensors using the giant magneto-resistance (GMR) and the tunnel magneto-resistance (TMR) is increasing, it is difficult to reduce the manufacturing cost due to their complicated multilayer structure. On the other hand, researches on magnetic metals exhibiting a large anomalous Hall and Nernst effects are attracting attention for the purpose of applying high-performance magnetic and heat flux sensors with a simple device structure. In this symposium, lectures on the basic physics of the anomalous Hall and Nernst effects, and presentations on recent progress of their application to magnetic and […]

The 243rd Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan/The 72nd Technical Meeting on New Magnetic Compounds

Forefront of high-entropy functional materials Since the 2000s, research on high-entropy alloys (HEA), which are multi-element solid-solution alloys, has been active mainly in the field of materials engineering. On the other hand, there are many unclear points on superconductivity and magnetism in HEA-type materials. In recent studies, examples of applying the concept of HEA to compound functional materials have been reported, and the issue is how to introduce HEA-type crystallographic sites into complex crystal structures to improve their functional properties. In this meeting, we would like to introduce cutting-edge research on the development and functionality of alloy-based and compound-based high-entropy functional materials, and discuss research guidelines for high-entropy functional materials. […]

The 242nd Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

Magnetic technology used in space In recent years, there have been various R&D activities related to the space environment in the public and private sectors, and in our country, the budget for space-related activities has been increasing at a pace of more than 20% annually. Because of the harsh environment in space, it is difficult to deploy the technology used on Earth as it is, and many attempts have been made to deal with this problem by using various magnetic materials and magnetic technologies. In this workshop, six researchers active in related fields will be invited to talk about the current status of magnetic technology applications in space, examples of […]
