The 244th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan/ The 7th Technical Meeting on Magnetic Sensors

Anomalous Hall and Nernst effects in magnetic metals and their application to magnetic and heat flux sensors

Although the sensitivity of magneto-resistive sensors using the giant magneto-resistance (GMR) and the tunnel magneto-resistance (TMR) is increasing, it is difficult to reduce the manufacturing cost due to their complicated multilayer structure. On the other hand, researches on magnetic metals exhibiting a large anomalous Hall and Nernst effects are attracting attention for the purpose of applying high-performance magnetic and heat flux sensors with a simple device structure. In this symposium, lectures on the basic physics of the anomalous Hall and Nernst effects, and presentations on recent progress of their application to magnetic and heat flux sensors will be given.
