The 135th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

Recent Progress of Perpendicular Magnetic Recording and Future Forecast With the progress of recording density and storage capacity, Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is expanding its application not only in computer storage area but also in consumer market. However, the development of higher density technology is much challenging to overcome fundamental limits such as superparamagnetic limit and atomic level low flying height and hence annual growth rate decelerates. Under this situation, benefit of changing to Perpendicular Recording becomes significant and its entry in the market is driven by the marketfs high density requirements. In this symposium, a progress of recent Perpendicular Recording technology in media, head and drive areas are reported […]

The 134th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan / The 22th Symposium of the Magnetic Artificial Structured Thin Film

The current status of spin electronics, and its future In recent years, the research on the physics and applications of spin electronics are increasingly active in many companies and institutions worldwide. One of the most important applications is magnetic random access memory (MRAM) and Magnetoresistive heads, and information processing application based on spin dependent transport phenomena. However, there are many subjects in order to actualize the applications. Especially, low electric power technology of spin reversal, a half metal thin film, a new device, etc. are considered to be important subjects, and various trials are carried out to the important subjects from a viewpoint of both basic research and application development. […]

The 133th Topical Symposium of The Magnetics Society of Japan / The 7th Symposium of the Hybrid Recording

The hybrid recording combined optical and magnetic recording technology towards daybreak The research activities in a hybrid recording technology which combines an optical recording technology and a magnetic recording technology is considered to become important in future ultra high density storage. There are so many issues to be clarified and engineering problems which should be solved, such as the research of stable materials, thermal stability at high density, tiny domain recording, the clarifiction of the material design technique including the cool down process and heat conductive character which is suitable for recording, temperature controlling, and the introduction of new medium process including nano-processing technology. In this symposium, researchers actively working […]

The 132th Topical Symposium of The Magnetics Society of Japan

Recent Progress on Fabrication Technology of Nanostructured Magnetic Device Recently, there has been an increasing interest in magnetic devices including tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) devices, current-perpendicular-to-the-plane giant magnetoresistance (CPP-GMR) devices and high-frequency magnetic devices (HF-MEMS). For achieving advanced device performances, it is essential to miniaturize and control the structures of the film devices. In this symposium, focus is upon the film fabrication methods and processes that could realize the miniaturization, ultra thin and multilayer, and controlled structures. The researchers actively working in this field will give us an explanatory talk and discuss how the properties and performance of the magnetic devices are related to these fabrication processes. This symposium invites participation […]
