The 147th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan

Recent Trend of Rare Earth Magnets and their Applications

Nd-Fe-B magnets have been developed by remarkable growth in electronic industry. The main applications of Nd-Fe-B magnets were voice coil motors and spindle motors in hard disk drives (HDD) at the beginning. It’s more than 20 years since the Nd-Fe-B magnets were invented, which have been extending their applications such as MRI, home appliances, wind power generation, industrial motors, and traction motors for rail vehicle and HEV. The 147th Topical Symposium of Magnetics Society of Japan aims at reviewing the recent trend of rare earth magnets and their applications to inspire further development. We sincerely appreciate participation of researchers and engineers who are interested in this field.
