The 144th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan / The 13th Symposium of the Nano-magnetics

Perpendicular Recording, which greeted a stage of practical use

Recent remarkable improvement in hard disk technology has enlarged its applications into video recorders, mobile audio-visual systems and car navigation systems beyond computer storage. Especially, higher recording density and larger capacity are required to satisfy the demands of audio-visual systems. Perpendicular recording is one of the break-through to achieve the demands. Mobile audio players using Perpendicular Recording. Hard Disk Drive (HDD) was shipped in the market recently. Perpendicular Recording technology has been in a stage of practical use.
In this topical symposium, recent improvements of Perpendicular Recording technologies in media, head and drive will be reported. Not only people in HDD industry but also people interested in HDD, will be welcome to participate in discussion of future trend of the technologies.
