Joint Symposia Sponsored by the Magnetics Society of Japan / The 141st Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan / The 10th Symposium of the Nano-Bio Magnetics

Theme: Fabrication and Biomedical Applications of Magnetic Beads

There is growing interest in the development of magnetic beads for biomedical applications. Well known examples of the applications of magnetic beads in the life sciences is the use of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles as contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic carriers in screening blood donors. The future development of this field will require an interdisciplinary approach involving the cooperation of researchers involved in magnetics and biomedicine.
In this joint symposium, scientists and engineers actively working in these areas will describe the present status and future prospects of their research. The presentations have been specially planned for newcomers to the field of biomagnetics and will focus on introducing basic physical concepts in addition to describing experimental procedures used for the fabrication, detection and utilization of magnetic beads in biomedicine.
