Topical Symposium
The 142st Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

Micro actuators with small permanent magnets
Since the 1990’s, there have been increased activity on developments in micro actuators with utilizing microprocessing and MEMS technologies. They look unrelated to magnetics because electrostatic or piezic force is applying to power sources for almost of all micro actuators with dimensions of micron order. However, considerably high output by electromagnetic force has been expected for milli- or sub-milli-sized actuators which may be more important from the point of view of practical usage.
The 142nd Topical Symposium of Magnetics Society of Japan aims at reviewing the advantages of electromagnetic force for such micro actuators, examples of them, small motors, and miniaturization of permanent magnets which are applied to micro actuators.
We sincerely appreciate participation of researchers and engineers who are interested in this field.
